A few weeks ago I donated blood and completed my first December Goal. I always have an interesting experience donating because of my small rolling vein, being too slow or this time, my platelets doing their job a little too well and donating with a consistent flow to a complete stop. Lots of confused looks, pokes and a little bruising but we go the job done and the staff was making fun of me for being a “weird one”. The nurse said he’s never seen anything like it. I’ll take that as a compliment…
Hey, here’s a fun fact: 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives
Where exactly does your blood donation go? Well, as much as I would love to type up all of this wonderful information, I can send you to a credible website and well, THEE credible website for blood donation- American Red Cross-where you can read about where your donated blood goes, blood types, health and wellness information and even play games.
Interested in donating? Go to the American Red Cross Website and see where the closest donation center is to your home. Holiday seasons are typically a busier time for blood donations so even though it will be busy, they do take walk-ins and will get you in!
For first time doners- make sure you read the tips for a successful donation here
